Seoul activities that aren’t shopping

Studying abroad in Seoul is super fun as the city has much to offer. If you’re someone who gets overwhelmed by too many options or prefers suggestions from friends for activities to do in a new city, this list is for you!
Go to Lotte World! (Bonus points for renting school uniforms with a group.) Lotte World is a huge amusement park located in the southeastern neighborhood of Jamsil in Seoul, near Lotte World Tower. Lotte World is a fun mix of roller coasters, water rides, and cute fuzzy characters (I like to think of it as a mix of Disney and Six Flags).

Walk through Seoul Forest! Also, located in southeast Seoul, Seoul Forest is a short walk from the Ttukseom Stop on Line 2. It’s a huge area of greenery and almost doesn’t feel like a park. It is also connected to the Hangang River Park and offers many beautiful views! I was so lucky to be there during the opening of the Seoul International Garden Festival. This event offered super unique themed gardens in partnership with Kakao Friends, Shin Ramen, and Pokémon!

Paddleboarding on the Han River! This was an activity my friend suggested, as she had gone kayaking previously with Zooty. Koa, and they offer paddleboarding too. If you like water activities, this is a great option and a wonderful way to see the city in a new light. There are many times you can choose from, but I loved paddleboarding at sunset! Seeing Namsan Tower in front of the sunset while on the river was lovely. The water wasn’t too cold, and it felt refreshing under the heat of the sun.

Go rock climbing! Seoul has so many different rock climbing gyms and even a few rock climbing equipment stores. I normally go to the Seoul Forest climbing gym, and it’s affordable. A day pass and shoe rental is about $16 USD! I have taken advantage of going a lot, as it’s much more affordable than back in the U.S.

These are only a few of the many activities you can do in Seoul. It’s a huge city with so much to explore, which makes it so attractive to study here! Which activity could you see yourself doing?
