Phoenix offers plenty of learning opportunities for kids through summer camps in the Greater Phoenix area. Whether your children are interested in learning about animals and the natural world or building robotic LEGOS and learning how to code, a perfect STEM camp awaits them.
With half and full-day options for all school ages, you can find programs that suit any interests and family schedule. Many of these include outdoor activities, so kids make the most of their summer by continuing their education while staying active and making new friends.
Mad Science
Mad Science camps are located in Northeast Phoenix and can also be attended virtually from anywhere. They run as full- and half-day sessions with before and after-care options available at specific locations. There are weekly themes at Mad Science including space exploration, robots, science, crime scene investigation, and engineering.
Campers can make slime, decode hidden messages, and build autonomous robots and skyscrapers. All camps are open to children ages 6 to 12. The counselors are a combination of teachers and college students pursuing education degrees. Mad Science maintains a 1 to 15 staff-to-camper ratio for its classes.
Each session runs Monday through Friday, with full days from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm while half days run till noon. Mad Science also hosts birthday parties and after-school programs throughout the year.
Snapology
Located in the Gilbert area, a southeast suburb of Phoenix, Snapology offers full and half-day camps. All offerings are divided into three-hour blocks that can be combined to create a full day of camp. There are also workshops available that can be specialized and catered to your kid’s interests and schedule.
Summer camps cover Lego robotics, coding classes, and STEAM activities. Campers might play around and build robots or do activities involving their favorite TV characters. They might create and create their very own toy models or learn basic computer programming skills.
Snapology welcomes students ages 4 – 14 years old. Half-day sessions are from 9:00 am to noon or from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The Snapology brand is famous for its STEM centers, which are located across the United States.
Code Ninjas
The Code Ninjas Ahwatukee is located in south Phoenix and offers summer camps as well as spring break programs. Kids are separated into age groups from 5 to 7 and 8 to 14 for age-appropriate activities. Weekly learning includes topics like Roblox, Legos, Minecraft, coding, and unique things like how to create your own escape room.
Younger kids also get to rebuild game worlds in the real world. They have the chance to play with flight simulators and so much more during these day camps. Classes last anywhere from 3 to 5 days.
NERDING
Nerding is found in Chandler, just southeast of the city. Their summer camps are held on the Gilbert Eduprize campus throughout June and July. Each camp day is divided into two and three-hour sessions. Campers are welcome to attend either the morning or the afternoon session, or they can enroll in the full-day camp and stay through lunch. They just need to bring their own lunches or a snack.
All of the Nerding programs are divided up by age with certain classes offered to students entering into grades 1 – 3 and others for those entering grades 4 – 7. They will be taught by certified and experienced teachers. Your children will learn all things STEM, from coding to robotics and even music.
Kids can use science to become light-bending wizards, or they can learn to play the ukulele and knowledge about the science of sound and music. Each Friday, parents are welcome to join their kids for presentations on what they learned through the week.

Phoenix Zoo
At the Phoenix Zoo camps, kids will meet the zoo animals both big and small. Instructors take them on nature walks and teach students about the natural world. Apart from outdoor activities, there are indoor activities to ensure campers stay cool in the warm temperatures of Phoenix. These include crafts, games, and demonstrations.
They also host camps in the spring, and all are open to students entering kindergarten through sixth grade. Kindergarteners will have a half-day camp, starting at 8:00 a.m. and finishing at 11:30 a.m., while all other participants stay until 3:00 p.m. You just need to pack a lunch for your kid, but snacks are provided for them.
Space Camps Phoenix
Space Camps Phoenix will teach your children about the wonders of space and our beautiful Earth. Their hands-on learning sessions in the spring and summer give them a chance to collaborate with other peers.
Children in pre-k through second grade are grouped together, while there is a separate group for 3rd to 5th graders and the last one for middle school students. The sessions run in rotations of two-week blocks focusing on different aspects of space science.
Your campers can study the planets, the solar system, asteroids, meteors, and stars. They learn about the life cycle of stars, how to program robots, and how to use drones. The Earth and Space Expedition Center provides an interactive experience your children won’t forget.
Phoenix Country Day
Phoenix Country Day camps host two-week sessions in June. Their themes include Journey to Japan, Skateboard Design, Space Camp, and The Ocean. For students entering kindergarten and first grade, there is a special themed camp on Art of Play and Surf’s Up.
During camp, all kids will get to make full use of the facilities at the Phoenix Country Day School which is northwest of Scottsdale. There are sports fields, gyms, and tennis courts. There are pools for swim classes and free swimming. There are computer labs, art studios, and an auditorium.
You will find weekday lessons on chess, dance, kickball, Legos, and so many more, with Fridays reserved for camp activities. Lunch is included with vegetarian and vegan options.
