Welcome Akron’s new STEM hub director

Cline Sandra 486 2696 (1) lowWe are thrilled to share that Sandra Cline has been named the new Director of the Akron Hub, a key regional partner within the Ohio STEM Learning Network (OSLN)

The OSLN Akron Hub, founded in 2009 and housed at the National Inventors Hall of Fame STEM Middle School, serves a 13-county region in Northeast Ohio by expanding access to innovative STEM education. The Hub works to inform the public on how STEM can be integrated with the arts, 21st-century skills, and real-world experiences, while also amplifying the impact of STEM platform schools’ best practices, tools, and networks. By fostering collaboration and connectivity across initiatives, the Akron Hub builds strong partnerships and serves as a regional leader in advancing creative, forward-thinking strategies to grow STEM education in Ohio and beyond.

As the new Hub Director, Sandra brings over 20 years of experience as a teacher leader and student advocate in Akron Public Schools. Throughout her career, she has served in a variety of roles, including teacher, literacy coach, instructional specialist, International Baccalaureate Coordinator, and College and Career Academy Coach. She has collaborated with business partners, educators, parents, and community leaders to build meaningful partnerships that positively impact student achievement. With a strong vision and passion for advancing STEM education across the region, Sandra brings leadership, compassion, and effective communication skills to her new role.

Sandra earned her undergraduate degree in Education from John Carroll University and a Master’s degree in Literacy from the University of Akron. She also holds certifications as an International Baccalaureate Educator Network Educator and a Concept-Based Curriculum and Instruction Trainer. These experiences have shaped her into a well-rounded educator, well-prepared to lead and advance STEM education in her new role.

OSLN, a public–private partnership between the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce and Battelle, works to inspire and train the next generation of innovative leaders across the state. Through a network of regional hubs, including Central Ohio, OSLN connects schools, educators, and communities to real-world learning opportunities that prepare students for future careers and civic engagement.
