Up in the Mountains

[[{“value”:”

Peloponnese mountain landscape with rolling clouds. In the foreground there is a narrow road curving downhill, bordered by rocky ground, dry grasses, and green bushes. The valley below stretches out with fields in shades of brown and green. In the middle distance, clusters of trees dot the land. Low clouds and mist hang around the dark mountains in the background, partially obscuring their peaks. The sky is overcast, giving the entire scene a cool and slightly moody atmosphere.

Γειά σας!! Wow, the views that I have been seeing from outside of Athens are so beautiful. I had a trip to Peloponnese, Greece, where I was able to explore nature. The weather dropping to cold and rainy threw me off, but it was still fun. The professors who were leading this trip were so funny. One of the professors is so into bird watching. He would always tell us when a bird was flying around and made all of us look. It was so cute because he would share information about the bird. However, he was disappointed that we did not see many since the weather was bad.

A group of people walking along a gravel and dirt path through a grassy, lightly wooded landscape. In the foreground, a person is holding a pair of binoculars with one hand. The sky is cloudy and gray, suggesting overcast or potentially rainy weather. The people ahead are dressed casually, and one person is wearing an orange jacket which stands out among more neutral-colored outfits. The setting appears to be rural or natural, possibly a hiking or birdwatching trip. Trees and grass line both sides of the path, and distant hills or mountains are visible under the cloudy sky.

He also brought his binoculars… and guys, this was my first time using them and I WAS AMAZED. I saw a small town that was inside the mountains, like, it was so clear, I loved it. This has been my favorite trip so far. I got to talk to so many people and get really close to them in a span of 3 nights. Everyone is so cool, and I still can’t believe that I have been in Athens for a full month now. The views have me in a chokehold, and I take pictures of everything I see.

A young woman standing outdoors on a rocky, elevated area with a scenic background of mountains partly covered by low, misty clouds. She has long brown hair, is wearing glasses, a camouflage-style jacket, a black crop top with two snake designs on the chest, and high-waisted blue jeans. Some greenery and a wooden gazebo structure can be seen below in the wide open landscape. The weather appears overcast, with a grey sky.

Of course, with the good views. I did have to take pictures of myself up in the mountains; that hike was not for nothing. The clouds during the weather were really interesting to see. I was shocked to see how huge they can get. They looked really pretty from up here. In the next picture, you will see what I am talking about by how huge they can get.

Large, dramatic cumulus clouds dominate a vivid blue sky above a waterfront scene. In the foreground, there’s a paved pier extending into the water on the left, lined with benches and street lamps. To the right, there’s a sandy beach area featuring a row of straw beach umbrellas. Two signs and a trash bin sit close to the shore. The water is fairly calm, and low hills or mountains appear faint in the distance under the shadow of the thick, low-hanging clouds. The overall mood suggests an impending storm due to the dense, dark cloud layer hovering over the horizon.

Like WHAT? Have you ever seen a cloud this huge?? My friend and I made the joke that it was Zeus coming down to get us because we were talking about him earlier in the day. But seriously, I was not expecting to see this huge cloud when walking back to the bus. This was after we walked on the beach. Even from the picture, it looks so fake, and our professor was surprised to see it as well.

Group of people standing and listening inside a large cave. The cave walls are rough, textured rock, and the lighting is dim, giving the space a natural, earthy feeling. Most of the people appear to be casually dressed, listening attentively to a man near the center who seems to be speaking or guiding the group. The atmosphere suggests a tour or educational visit. Some people have backpacks, and a few are sitting on rocks or low stone steps. Everyone appears focused and engaged with what the speaker is saying.

Oh, but wait, there’s more to this trip. When I tell you, this cave was so cool, and the history behind it was even cooler. There are 3 different levels in this cave, and we were in the second level, which is more open. They told us to be quiet because we would wake up the 3,000 bats that are living there. The cave has been around so long that the water levels have dropped, and there’s a mark of where the water used to be. Here, the professor was relating it to philosophy and the romanticism period.

Cave interior with rocky walls and formations. The cave features textured limestone or mineral deposits along the right side, with some areas displaying bumpy or popcorn-stone formations. The floor has a shallow pool of still, clear water that reflects some of the cave ceiling. To the left, part of a metal railing is visible, indicating a walkway or viewing area for visitors. The scene is lit with artificial lighting, highlighting the natural details and colors of the stone.

Here you can see how low the water got. The place where this is located has not been getting a lot of rain. So there is no water entering the cave. It was sad to hear that, because it used to be high and people would go cave diving. Now that is not a thing. However, they take good care of it, and it is big with cool shiny marble.

Overall, my field study trips have been so fun. I like that they are so informative. I can get a better understanding of the culture of Greece that is outside of the main city.
