Greetings,

Due to several late developing factors that will impact our district, we are updating our current status and announcing that all Dearborn Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Again, all Dearborn Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

As we have stated in the past, assessing weather and safety conditions in our community is an ongoing process, especially after a holiday weekend that was filled with heavy snowfall and dropping temperatures. District staff have been out surveying neighborhoods and in a few areas sidewalks presented safety concerns for those walking to school. In addition, many district’s around us have decided to close which can have an impact on our staff and student attendance.

Although temperatures are in a range that would allow us to conduct school, it is in the best interest of our students and staff that we make the difficult decision to close.

We do apologize for the late notice and for any possible confusion our earlier message may have caused. We live in a time when communication is instant and we feel that it is better to inform and then adjust, adapt, and provide updated information. Thank you for your understanding.
